The Craft Collective — a side project of BottleHouse Brewery & Meadery — hosts its grand opening today. (Feb. 13)

The beer bar/brewery, located at the Market Hall at Van Aken District in Shaker Heights, will focus on barrel aging beers brewed at BottleHouse in Cleveland Heights, similar to the setup for the brewery's Lakewood location. While there's no brewing system at the Craft Collective, there are barrels and foedors for aging.

Craft Collective was designed to have the same vibe as BottleHouse, as in "community centric and family friendly," but is offering a slew of guest beers, founder Brian Benchek said.

"The difference here compared to our other locations is we're primarily focused on other small brewers in Cleveland that do not distribute," he said. "So right now on draft we have some Bookhouse. We have some HiHO. We have Hansa, Noble Beast, Black Cloister. The idea is to highlight other small breweries that aren't distributing and that fall under the same ethos that we have at BottleHouse."

The bar has 30 taps and will offer cider and craft cocktails in addition to beer.

Craft Collective doesn't have a kitchen. It doesn't need one. There are giant doors that open to the Market Hall where people can grab food at the eateries and bring it into the bar, Benchek said.

Craft Collective will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
