TWINSBURG — Unless someone files as a write-in candidate, it appears that Twinsburg Mayor Ted Yates and City Councilman Brian Steele will face off against each other for mayor in the November general election.
They were the only city residents to file petitions with the Summit County Board of Elections by Thursday’s 4 p.m. deadline.
Because only two people filed, the spokesman said it is unlikely the two will appear on the May primary ballot. If three or more would have filed, voters would have narrowed the field in the primary to two candidates.
The filings will not be official until the elections board verifies that the two residents submitted an acceptable number of valid signatures from registered city voters.
