Six Ohio breweries won honors at the eighth annual New York International Beer Competition.

The competition, which took place in New York City last month, featured more than 600 beers submitted from more than 14 countries.

The Ohio winners were:

• Christian Moerlein (Cincinnati): gold for Emancipator.

• Hansa (Cleveland): double gold for Oktoberfest; and silver for BYE Felicia! and Black Flag.

• Hudepohl (which is part of Christian Moerlein): bronze for Hudepohl Bock Beer.

• Moerlein Lager House (Cincinnati): gold for Smoked Marzen; and bronze for Barbarossa and Helles Lager.

• Municipal (Hamilton): gold for Orange Agave Blonde, silver for Laoch Irish Stout and bronze for Midnight Cut.

• Sibling Revelry (Westlake): gold for Barrel Aged Imperial Cosmic Cocoa, silver for Third Wheel and bronze for Double Red.

• Streetside (Cincinnati): silver for Glitter Freeze and bronze for Revelrous.

Samuel Adams, which has a brewery in Cincinnati, also won a slew of awards.

Meanwhile, organizers also named Christian Moerlein as the Ohio Brewery of the Year (among those that entered);  Municipal as the Fruit Brewery of the Year; Hansa as the Oktoberfest Brewery of the Year; Streetside as the Ohio Sour Ale Brewery of the Year; and Sibling Revelry as Ohio Stout Brewery of the Year.
