STOW — The city is warning residents about solicitors going door to door in the community claiming they were hired by the city to sign up customers for the city's gas aggregation program.

The solicitors, who say they are with a company named "Direct Energy," haven't been hired by the city and are not approved solicitors, the city said in a news release.

"Official information about the city of Stow’s gas aggregation program will be released in the next two weeks," the city said. "At that time, the information will be available on the city of Stow website at, city Facebook page, and sent out as a direct mail piece. Information will also be provided to the media. The city will not have representatives going door to door, nor will the city have representatives contact you directly by phone."
