A 42-year-old man was struck and killed early Saturday morning in an apparent hit-and-run accident in Akron, authorities said.
The man was walking shortly after 1 a.m. in the 900 block of East Archwood Avenue when a vehicle traveling westbound on East Archwood struck him and drug him with the vehicle across South Arlington Street. The driver fled before police or paramedics arrived.
The man was discovered dead in the road near Archwood Avenue and South Arlington Street in the city's East Akron neighborhood at about 1:20 a.m. by a passerby who called 911, the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said.
The man was transported to Summa Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's identity has not been released pending family notifications.
