Lizardville Beer Store & Whiskey Bar has teamed up with Hoppin' Frog Brewery to release two special versions of the Akron brewery's award-winning B.O.R.I.S. the Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout.
Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S. Mark of the Lizard and Barrel-Aged B.O.R.I.S. Lizard Creek will be available in 12-ounce bottles starting today (March 14) at Lizardville locations and the Winking Lizard Tavern in Canton. They are $8.49 each.
"Both of them are phenomenal," Winking Lizard/Lizardville partner John Lane said.
Lizardville, which offers a healthy dose of whiskeys, handed over barrels from Maker's Mark and Knob Creek to Hoppin' Frog to produce the limited edition, barrel-aged brews. It's the first time that the bar has offered a packaged barrel-aged collaboration.
Lizardville has locations in Bedford Heights, Copley, Lakewood and Westerville.
Hoppin' Frog founder and brewmaster Fred Karm will be at the Copley Lizardville from 4 to 6 p.m. today (March 14) to meet fans and talk about the beers.
He described Lizard Creek as having "as a deeper, darker, more sinister character ... It has flavors and aromas that remind you of sweet tobacco and deep-roasted vanilla, nicely complementing the roasty, toasty, and caramelized character of B.O.R.I.S."
Meanwhile, the Mark of the Lizard "has a friendly, lighter and sweeter character ... It has flavors and aromas of cotton candy and spice, as well as significant character of lightly toasted oak. This is from their special 'Maker's 46' barrel, which has four additional oak staves added to the barrel, suspended inside the barrel for a unique, more assertive and complex barrel character," he said.
