Police said the woman knew her boyfriend was abusing the boy, police say.

CANTON  A woman whose boyfriend is accused of killing her 2-year-old son has been arrested on a felony endangering children warrant.

Crystal N. Derohn, 33, of the 3500 block of Ellis Avenue NE, was arrested at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Canton Police Department, and remained in the Stark County Jail on Friday, held in lieu of $100,000 bond pending a Canton Municipal Court hearing.

Court paperwork shows she left Kaija Derohn, 2, in the care of a man she knew had been abusing the child. The child later died.

Antonio B. Hardeman, 37, became upset at the child, striking the toddler's mouth and banging his head against a headboard and wall, according to police. The child was pronounced dead on March 16.

Hardeman was arrested and booked into the jail on charges of murder, felonious assault and endangering children. He remained in the jail Friday, held in lieu of $1 million bond.
