Windham Superintendent Laura Amero has been placed on paid leave following allegations of professional misconduct that are being investigated by the Windham Police Department.

According to police, no criminal charges have been filed at this time and all parties involved are cooperating.

Amero took over the job in February when Greg Isler retired. Isler has been named acting superintendent as of today.

Phone calls to Isler and Windham Police Chief Eric Breiding have not yet been returned.

This is a developing story. Check back with and read Tuesday's Akron Beacon Journal for updates.
