MEDINA — Medina County Common Pleas Judge Joyce Kimbler received a threatening letter saying she should be forced to "roast in a hot car" for how she handled the sentencing of a father whose 6-month-old child died after being left in a car last summer, the Medina Gazette reports.

Authorities are investigating and the letter has been sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for DNA testing, the newspaper said.

Christopher Lee Stewart, 22, was sentenced last year to two years probation after pleading guilty to child endangering, a third-degree felony. The charge carried a potential sentence of nine to 36 months in prison and up to a $10,000 fine

The charge stemmed from him leaving his daughter — identified in court only as "R.L.S." — in his car July 14 when he attended a youth baseball tournament at Ray Mellert Park in Medina. The outside temperature that day was 90 degrees.
