CANTON — The investigation into the shooting death of a 14-year-old southwest Canton girl has resulted in several search warrants being issued.

"We are working with the Canton Police Department, conducting numerous search warrants and waiting for the results," said Michelle Cordova, prosecutor in the juvenile division at the Stark County Prosecutor's.

The Stark County Coroner's Office is awaiting results of toxicology and other tests conducted during the autopsy, she said.

Police investigating the Saturday morning death of Sylvia McGee on Bieyl Court SW continued to interview witnesses Wednesday.

"Every day, people are coming forward with information," Cordova said.

The child's mother and grandmother told the Canton Repository Tuesday they believe the teen was lured out of her home and into the street by a teenage boy who was a friend of hers.

Police would neither confirm nor deny the family's allegations.

Police initially said they had two teenage suspects. They arrested a 13-year-old boy, taking him to the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center on a charge of lying to police while he was being interviewed.

No one has been charged with McGee's death.
