MARLBORO TWP. — Preliminary autopsy results indicate an 18-year-old Marlington High School student who went missing early Sunday morning died from drowning, police said Thursday in a news release.

A final ruling in the death of Aidan Jewell is pending with Stark County Coroner Anthony Bertin. Preliminary results show Jewell had no visible or internal signs of trauma, and that water was present in his lungs and stomach.

Jewell was last seen around 2 a.m. Sunday leaving a party at a barn in the 7700 block of Pontius Street Northeast. Officials began searching late Sunday, and continued on Monday and Tuesday, before finding Jewell's body in a pond about 200 yards from the barn.

Harry Campbell, chief investigator for the coroner's office, said Jewell was found in about 3 to 4 feet of water and about 40 to 50 yards from the pond bank.

Police said they believe Jewell attended a party where underage drinking and drug use occurred.
