A former Waterloo junior varsity baseball coach is accused of sending a photo of a sex toy and a woman’s breasts to 10 Waterloo baseball players in a Snapchat group chat on March 13.

Corwin D. Smith, 20, of 1411 Viola Parkway NW, Canton, was charged Monday with 10 counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, each a first-degree misdemeanor. He has been issued a summons so he can turn himself in, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, Smith cooperated with the investigation. Court records indicate the victims were between 14 and 17 years old.

Smith resigned March 19 and the Board of Education approved the resignation at its April 11 board meeting, Superintendent Shawn Braman said.

High school baseball games started the weekend of March 23.

"We are cooperating with Portage police as always and we believe the situation is in their hands and will be handled accordingly and professionally," Braman said.

He declined to say whether the school is conducting its own investigation.
