BARBERTON — City police will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 27.

Police will accept unused or expired medication for disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the former FirstMerit Building at 480 W. Tuscarawas Ave.

People will be able to drive up and hand their unwanted pills to a police officer without getting out of their vehicles. Police also will hand out free Deterra bags so people can destroy their pills safely at home.

Barberton police said they have collected 1,500 pounds of pills over the last five years.
