PLAIN TWP. — Jeff Wagner has long been hoping to open a new location of his downtown Canton eatery Thatsa Wrapp, about to celebrate its ninth year.

He’ll soon get his wish.

In early May, Thatsa Wrapp Shack is scheduled to open at 7944 Cleveland Ave. NW in the free-standing building that previously housed RJ Scoops, an ice cream stand.

“We went to Scoops all the time,” said Wagner, a North Canton resident who co-owns Thatsa Wrapp with his wife Ashley. “We were sad to see them go, but at the same time excited at the opportunity to take over the building.”

Wagner has been extensively renovating the interior.

Thatsa Wrapp Shack will have a menu similar to the Canton location, with wrap sandwiches, salads and desserts, but some different items such as a housemade ice cream cookie sandwich.

“This place will be all walk-up orders, with al fresco seating for 40 people at picnic tables and some patio tables,” Wagner said.

Hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday.

“We’ve had a lot of feedback from people that live up in that area, a lot of excitement,” Wagner said. “We’re definitely filling a void in the north.”

Thatsa Wrapp is developing a catering menu for its neighboring bar The Barrel Room.

Wagner said staffers will be needed for both locations of Thatsa Wrapp. People may fill out applications at the downtown Canton restaurant, or leave their information in a dropbox at the new place.
