The Canton Brewing Co. is hosting a "Gray for May" event on May 4 to raise awareness and money for brain cancer research.
The Canton brewpub is sponsoring a one-mile community run/walk and a one-mile beer run. The brewery also will release a new beer called Julie on May 1.
The beer, a grisette, is named after general manager and head brewer Dylan Hamilton's aunt Julie who died in April 2012 from brain cancer.
Proceeds from the race and $1 from each pint sold of Julie will be donated to the American Cancer Society and The Julie Mesaros Educational Endowment Fund.
Everyone who participates will get a swag bag from sponsors, a shirt and medal. The participants in the beer run also will receive a bottle opener.
The beer mile will involve people drinking four ounces of beer every quarter of a mile. Participants in the beer run must be 21 years old and older.
The community run/walk begins at 7:30 p.m., while the beer run will start at 8 p.m. The cost to participate in the walk is $25. The cost for the beer run is $30. The brewery also is accepting donations from those who don't participate.
