BOLIVAR — A utility pole fire closed Interstate 77 near Bolivar for four hours Tuesday night.
The northbound and southbound lanes were closed at 7 p.m. and reopened about 11 p.m.
American Electric Power spokeswoman Suzanne Priore said an animal “came into contact” with a high-voltage power line and ignited a pole fire. The fire knocked out power to 3,650 customers.
The highway was closed over concerns power lines might fall across the highway, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office. The fire occurred in Franklin Township between Bolivar and Strasburg.
