STOW — Counselors and members of the crisis response team are responding to Stow-Munroe Falls High School this week to help students following the unexpected death of a senior on Tuesday.

"Earlier today, we notified our students body that one of our 12th graders, Jack Wilson, passed away yesterday," the school district said in an email send to parents Wednesday. "...Our thoughts and support are with the Wilson family, friends, and the entire community."

No details were available.

Wilson was on the school's varsity basketball team.

Principal Jeff Hartmann said the school is “providing counseling support to students this week and over the next few weeks as needed.”

“Our crisis response team was activated and is on site with additional counseling support from Child Guidance and Family Services as well as other counselors from other schools in the district,” Hartmann said. “Students were informed to seek out these supports if needed and a phone message to families will be shared later this evening. Grief resources will be distributed in classes and soon be on the high school homepage.”
