A man's body was pulled from a sewer in downtown Akron on Saturday, police said.

The body was discovered near West Exchange and Water streets just before 8 a.m. by a sewer construction worker, said Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards. The Akron Fire Department's Technical Rescue Team extracted the body, a 50-year-old white man with a history of homelessness, said Edwards, who did not identify the man.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, police said. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, which was also called to the scene, will conduct an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

The Akron Police Department is investigating.
