The Akron Police Department is looking for information about shootings and gun violence that occurred over the weekend.

Akron police responded to a shooting Friday night on Grifton Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two victims inside a silver 2019 Volkswagen Jetta with gunshot wounds.

The victims, both from Akron, were shot in the right leg and the knee. They were transported to Akron City Hospital.

The victims told police they were in the car when an unknown male fired shots at their car. No description of the suspect was given.

Police responded to another shooting about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Officers were told that the victim, a 20-year-old Akron man, was in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe near the Copley Road and Diagonal Road intersection when he and his female passenger heard a gunshot.

The male victim later realized he was shot in the arm and drove himself to the hospital. Neither the victim nor the passenger saw any suspects.

Officers responded at 1:30 a.m. Saturday to shots fired on the 1100 block of Laurel Avenue. The front porch of a house was struck with bullets and a front window and porch were hit at another house.

No injuries were reported. No suspects have been identified.

Around noon the same day, there were reports of gunshots on the 800 block of East Avenue.

The caller, who is from Kelly Avenue, told police that he was backing up into a driveway on East Avenue. When he walked into the house, he heard shots fired. The victim discovered that his 2017 Jeep Cherokee was struck several times. No one was reported to be injured.

He also said he saw a white pickup truck driving down the street with an arm hanging out of the front passenger window.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday, a house in the 900 block of Celina Avenue was hit with bullets. No injuries were reported.
