The Veterans Service Commission of Summit County will offer a free Job Boot Camp employment workshop paired with a free job fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The event will offer veterans resume writing help and resume analysis, as well as employment search training, interview coaching, dress-for-success tips, employment opportunities and more.

It is open to all veterans, spouses of veterans and veteran dependents of Summit County who are seeking employment or new career opportunities.

Participants can meet with representatives from local employers and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services during the afternoon job fair. Professionals from the Veterans Service Commission also will be on-hand to discuss education opportunities, online career development courses and other free resources available through the agency.

The Job Boot Camp and job fair will be at the Veterans Service Commission headquarters at 1060 E. Waterloo Road in Akron. The Job Boot Camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon and the job fair will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Preregistration is required and is available online at VSCsummitOH.us or by calling 330-643-7636.

Attendees should come dressed for an interview and are required to bring a copy of their DD Form 214. Participants also are encouraged to bring resumes to hand out to local employers.

Job Boot Camp participants are encouraged to bring a laptop with career documents such as resume and cover letter for on-site review and coaching. Public transportation is available through Akron Metro RTA bus No. 2, via the Arlington route. For a schedule, visit AkronMetro.org.
