Market Garden Prosperity Wheat took home the best of show award last year at the inaugural Ohio Craft Brewers Cup.

Who will win the top honor this year?

The competition, which is judged by professional brewers and is designed to celebrate Ohio-made craft beer, will take place June 10 at The Dayton Beer Co. in Dayton. The winners will be announced June 15. (I will serve as one of the judges.)

The deadline to enter is June 1.

Last year, 40 breweries entered about 220 beers. In addition to the best of show award, the competition also highlights the best large, medium, small and nano brewery, along with honors for regions of the state.

The competition follows BJCP guidelines.

Ohio breweries are able to enter beers in 27 different categories this year. Dayton Beer founder and brewer Pete Hilgeman, who organizes the competition, said four categories were added: New England/hazy IPA, New England/hazy pale ale, sour/wild beer with fruit, and specialty/adjunct stout.

"Hopefully we can make it an annual event for years ago come," Hilgeman said.
