CANTON: Police are investigating an allegation of impropriety involving an electronic communication from a Canton City School District bus driver to a child.

Canton Police reports show a complaint was filed late Sunday night with the Police Department alleging harassing communication to a 10-year-old girl.

“The 54-year-old male suspect engaged in conversation of a ‘grooming’ nature with a juvenile victim,” the police report shows.

Grooming is a term used to described behaviors meant to build trust in a potentially vulnerable person who later might become the victim of some form of abuse.

Lt. Dennis Garren, police spokesman, confirmed that investigators “are reviewing correspondence from a 54-year-old school bus driver to the student.”

Garren declined to release details about what communication the man sent to the girl. He said the incident remains under investigation and that no one has been charged.
