AKRON — A woman chatting on the phone with her daughter Thursday morning was confronted by two men with guns in her bedroom who robbed her before fleeing, police said.

The incident happened about 9 a.m. in the 200 block of Noble Avenue, which is near the border of Highland Square and West Akron neighborhoods.

The woman told police she was in her upstairs bedroom and heard a loud noise downstairs near her kitchen. Soon, two men with guns came up the stairs and threatened to hurt the woman if she said anything.

The woman was still on the phone with her daughter, who apparently heard what was happening and called police.

The gunmen took the woman's phone, purse and television and fled out a back door. The woman waited a few minutes in her home and, after hearing only silence, fled to a neighbor's home for help.

Responding officers, with the help of a K9, tracked the victim’s property to a vacant house on her street. There, they recovered all of the victim’s belongings, except cash from her purse.

Akron police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call detectives at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip, or Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.
