CANTON — A man was fatally shot in the head while he was inside a home early Monday morning in the 200 block of Fulton Road Northwest.

The name of the victim had not been released by authorities as of late Monday morning pending notification of family.

A 26-year-old woman was shot in the arm while in the same home, Canton police said in a news release. The gunshot wound was not believed to be life-threatening, said Capt. Dave Davis.

In response to several questions regarding the incident, police emphasized it was not a drive-by shooting "and does not appear to be a random target."

Both the woman and her boyfriend were taken to Aultman Hospital following the shootings. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Third Street Southwest about 3:45 a.m. to investigate reports of shots fired. Police were flagged down in the 200 block of Fulton Road Northwest by the woman, who said someone had fired several gunshots into her home, the news release said.
