The Lake Erie Chapter of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America will host its spring show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at the D-Day Ohio Event Hall in Conneaut.
The show will showcase cans, bottles, signs, trays, lights, coasters, tap handles, openers and other beer-related items. Visitors can bring old beer-related items for appraisal or to sell.
A raffle will feature the grand prize of a Schaefer Olive Drab Beer Can from Schaefer Brewing in New York.
"During World War II, beer cans were often used for the military since cans were lighter, more compact, and didn’t break as easily as bottles when shipped overseas," the club said. "In 1944, the U.S. military contracted with more than 40 U.S. brewers to produce beer in olive drab colored cans. The cans were shipped to various military bases around the world. Typically, they would try to send cans with hometown names to match units overseas from the area where the beer was made to provide comfort to the soldiers. Olive drab cans were produced until around 1947."
Admission to the show is free.
