Akron police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck, dragged and killed a man early Monday morning on East Tallmadge Avenue at Redstone Avenue.

Akron police said the vehicle, possibly a blue car, drove off after hitting and dragging the unidentified man.

The dead man was identified Monday by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office as Scottie Neal Miller, 59, a homeless man from Akron. Miller died from multiple blunt force injuries, a spokesman for the office said.

Miller was one of two men crossing East Tallmadge at the intersection with Redstone about 3 a.m. The vehicle that struck Miller was traveling eastbound, police said.

Miller was dragged several hundred feet by the vehicle, the medical examiner’s office said. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

Part of East Tallmadge was closed off.
