LEXINGTON TWP. — Police arrested a woman they say cut a man three times with a knife and then struck her son with a chair.
Melissa A. Spanbauer, 35, of 14994 Garden St., was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at her home on charges of felonious assault, felony domestic violence and child endangering, Stark County Jail records show.
Deputies called to her house say she used a kitchen knife, which she placed to the man’s neck, scraping it and then used the serrated part of the knife to scrape his stomach and back before he was able to escape.
Then, she used a chair to strike her son, injuring him, authorities said.
Stark County court records show Spanbauer had just been sentenced two weeks ago to intensive supervisory probation and three years of community control for felony domestic violence in which another man was named as the victim.
The court records also show she was convicted in July, in 2016 and in 2008 for domestic violence against different men, and that she was convicted in 2014 of two counts of aggravated drug trafficking. In each case, she was sentenced to intensive supervisory probation and community control.
Spanbauer remained behind bars Monday, held in lieu of $202,000 bond pending an Alliance Municipal Court hearing.
The jail records did not list the condition of the man she’s accused of injuring Sunday nor her child.
