Cincinnati is busting at the seams with craft breweries.

The city ranks 25th in the nation in a new report that examines the number of craft breweries based on population. C+R Research noted that the Queen City has six breweries per 50,000 people.

Cincinnati was the only Ohio city to make the list. C+R Research also cited Rhinegeist Brewery as the community's "Most Popular Brewery" by using the SteadyServe Technologies' BreweryDB database.

Portland, Maine, topped the rankings with 18 breweries per capita, while Asheville, North Carolina, and Bend, Oregon, weren't far behind with 17 and 16, respectively.

C+R Research said it examined more than 500 cities.

"It's also interesting to note that large cities like Chicago, New York and Los Angeles don’t appear on this list," it says. "In fact, the only cities with a population of 250,000 or more on the list include Denver, Madison, Portland and Cincinnati."

According to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control, there are 24 A1C brewing licenses issued in Cincinnati, with Platform Beer Co. and Rhinegeist each having two licenses. That doesn't include breweries in the surrounding suburbs.
