CHESTER TWP. — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking help regarding a hit-skip buggy crash that injured one man and killed a horse at 10:23 p.m. Saturday on state Route 301 in Chester Township in Wayne County.
A buggy driven by Christ A. Hershberger, 20, of West Salem was struck from behind. He was injured and treated at the scene. His horse died.
The vehicle that struck his buggy fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a red or brown pickup with amber lights on the roof. After hitting the buggy, the truck continued south on Elyria Road where it left a trail of oil. Damage to the vehicle would be described as the right front area, right front headlamp area and undercarriage damage.
There were no witnesses to the crash but anyone who has information is asked to contact the Wooster patrol post at 330-264-0575.
