Concert and fireworks

Akron celebrates the Fourth of July with ribs, music and fireworks Thursday. The 122nd Army National Guard Band will perform at 8 p.m. at Lock 3 with fireworks set to go off at 9:45 p.m.

 

Quiet time at zoo

There will be a Zoothing Hour at the Akron Zoo on Sunday.  The zoo opens early at 9 a.m. for guests with special needs who don’t like crowds or loud noises. Regular admission applies.

 

Artful event

The Boston Mills Artfest will take over the ski resort Saturday and Sunday. There will be more than 300 artists from around the country. For more, visit bmbw.com/artfest/.

 

Community festival

The 24th Annual Kent Heritage Festival will be Saturday. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. in downtown Kent. Fireworks will be set off from Kramer Ball Fields at 10 p.m. There will be food, activities and entertainment.  A Classic Car Show will be on West Erie and on North Franklin Street.

 

Music and bikes

The Music & Moto Bike Show & Music Festival will kick off at noon Saturday at Lock 3 Park in Akron. There will be bike displays and music and a fireworks display. For more, visit musicandmotobikeshow.eventbrite.com.

 

Folksy setting

Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary will perform with the Cleveland Orchestra at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls. The remaining members of the folk trio Peter, Paul, & Mary have made music together for more than 50 years. Famous songs include "If I Had a Hammer" and "Puff the Magic Dragon." Lucas Richman will conduct the orchestra. Kids ages 18 and under are free on the lawn with an adult ticket purchased.

Diana Ross will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at MGM Northfield Park in Northfield. The stop is part of the Diamond Diana tour — a year-long trek to mark her 75th birthday
