Akron police have one suspect in custody and are searching for two others in the home invasion slaying Wednesday on Rowe Street in Akron, police said Monday. All of the suspects are minors.
Warrants for aggravated burglary and murder were signed on Marquis Felder, 17, of Huguelet Street in Akron; Zaveon Carter, 17, of Biruta Street in Akron; and Lavontae Poole, 16, of Stella Court in Canton.
Brandon J. Varner, 34, of Jean Avenue in Akron was killed in the attack and three others were wounded.
Police said the victims, including a 12-year-old boy who was shot in the abdomen, are expected to recover. The boy was taken to Akron Children's Hospital in serious condition after the attack.
The suspects were identified through the investigation, police said.
Detectives are seeking help from the public in locating Felder and Poole. Carter is currently in custody on unrelated charges.
Police describe Felder as a black male, 5-foot, 11-inches tall and 190 lbs and Poole as a black male, 5-foot, 5-inches tall and 135 lbs.
They should both be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Witnesses said on Wednesday that they heard several shots fired coming from inside the house on Rowe Street. They then observed three black males running from the house through the back yards.
Results from an autopsy of Varner were not immediately available on Monday.
