Mike Aurand is the co-founder and brewer at UrbanWoody Brewery in Fostoria. The brewery held its grand opening in May.

Question: Why did you become a brewer?

Answer: Because I love drinking beer THAT much. Always have!

Q: What's the story behind the name UrbanWoody?

A: The UrbanWoody Brewery ... so many possibilities, but only one true meaning.

Q: What are your favorite and least favorite craft beer trends now?

A: My favorite trend right now is the support small business/drink local movement.

Sours are my least fave trend right now.

Q: What's your best-selling beer and why do you think it's so popular?

A: Our New Day NE IPA. It’s 7.2% alcohol by volume and hoppy, but not TOO hoppy. Nice, juicy taste. We sold out of this beer a week after our grand opening, which we weren’t expecting to accomplish so soon. It’s popular because everyone loves a great IPA!

Q: Which beer — any beer in the world — do you wish that you created/brewed and why?

A: Baldman Brewing from Eagan, Minnesota (where I interned at while in brewery school). The Oktoberfest that Tristan brews. Best Oktoberfest I’ve ever, ever had and who wouldn’t want to be responsible for that?
