CANTON  Police say a man shot Friday afternoon in another section of town tried to drive himself to the downtown police station.

He got stuck on Market Avenue N, which was temporarily blocked for a fashion show as part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival activities.

The man was shot around 2:30 p.m. somewhere near 44th Street and Market, and continued driving south, said Police Chief Jack Angelo.

"It has nothing to do with the Hall of Fame (Enshrinement festivities)," Angelo said.

It was a domestic incident involving two cars. He said the wounded man kept driving, in fear he was being chased.

But he was forced to pull over near 12th and Market with traffic exiting the fashion show and police blocking the road.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Canton police continue to investigate.
