MARLBORO TWP. — Township police, a county coroner investigator and agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation searched a wooded area off Duquette Avenue NE Wednesday morning but did not find the evidence they were looking for.

Marlboro Township Police Chief Ron Devies said investigators searched the area behind a home in the 5000 block of Pinedale Street NE for nearly five hours Wednesday. He said they also searched a property south of the Uniontown area for roughly 20 minutes Wednesday.

“Our search for the evidence was inconclusive,” he said.

He declined to discuss what type of evidence they sought, noting that it was related to a case that crosses multiple jurisdictions. Devies said the landowners are not connected to the case being investigated.

Devies said while the search is over, the investigation is ongoing.

“We are continuing the investigation until we determine if in fact a crime was committed,” he said. ”... We’re going to do our due diligence on any information we have.”
