CANTON — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm just after midnight Thursday in the Seventh Street and McKinley Monument Drive NW area.

Canton Fire Department medics drove the teen to Aultman Hospital for the injury, which was not life-threatening, said Lt. Dennis Garren, public information officer.

The Canton boy told police he was walking with friends around midnight when he heard three gunshots, Garren said. The victim told officers his arm went numb and started bleeding.

The teen couldn’t provide a suspect, Garren said, noting he didn’t know whether the boy was still being treated at Aultman Thursday morning.

Detectives are investigating the shooting. Police received the call about 12:20 a.m. Four officers responded, according to an incident report.
