The Friends of Medina County District Library is sponsoring its inaugural UnRun — a 0.5-mile "race" that will include a 16-ounce beer at the finish line.

The UnRun is set for Sept. 7, with two starting times: 1 p.m. at Sully's Irish Pub and 3 p.m. at the Lager Heads Brewing Co.

In addition to receiving a beer at the finish line, participants will pass by a “Carb Loading Station” provided by event sponsor Buehler’s Fresh Foods.

“Participants will get the real race experience,” one of the event coordinators Tina Sabol said in a prepared statement. “We will start the race with energy pumping music, sing the national anthem and have an air-horn start across the starting line. Along the path there will be crowd support with goofy signs motivating them to not give up and make it to the finish line."

The UnRun proceeds benefit the Summer Reading Game at Medina County District Library.

The cost to participate is $40. The event is limited to those 21 and older.
