United Way of Guernsey, Monroe and Noble Counties’ Sixth Annual Fill The Bus event was a success with over 300 filled backpacks being distributed to children in need in Guernsey, Monroe and Noble counties. United Way of Guernsey, Monroe and Noble Counties wants to ensure that all children go back to school with the supplies they need to be confident and successful this year. United Way’s Fill The Bus event is just one of the ways they work toward student success.

The Fill The Bus event grows a little each year. This year, United Way collaborated with Walmart, Guernsey County Association of Churches, All For Kids, Quanex, Kerry and Guernsey County Coordinated Services.

Families signed up to receive backpacks and supplies during the free clothing give away in July as well as by calling the United Way office. All backpacks and supplies were delivered to the student’s school and waiting for them on the first day of school.

Rootbeer floats were also available for a donation to United Way during the Fill The Bus event with volunteers from several businesses as well as United Way board members manning the float trailer.

United Way would like to thank everyone in the community who came out and supported them in any way! Stephanie Laube, Executive Director of United Way states "Together, we are Living United."
