CANTON Police have arrested a 16-year-old Akron teenager accused of killing a young man in Canton last week.
City police and agents with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested Naquann Zayvier Jare Ware of Akron without incident Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of Central Plaza South on charges of murder and improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, police spokesman Lt. Dennis Garren said.
Police received a shots-fired alert at Ninth Street and Rowland Avenue NE around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 20. Then they were called to the 1200 block of Nelson Place NE where Nathaniel M. Stokes, 21, of Shriver Avenue NE, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to police. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Aultman Hospital.
Detectives have released no motive for the killing.
Ware has been booked into the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center.
Ware is the fourth murder suspect age 18 and under so far this year.
Two boys ages 13 and 14 years old - Isiah Lynch and Michael Boykins - are awaiting trial in connection with the March shooting death of 14-year-old Sylvia McGee, according to a Canton Repository article. An 18-year-old boy, Lee Berry, is accused of beating 64-year-old Glenn Anderson to death in July, a Repository article.
