Heat guard Dwyane Wade missed Wednesday’s win over the Spurs because of personal reasons. That reason has now been made public.
Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, announced the arrival of their daughter Thursday. She was born Wednesday via a surrogate.
It’s Wade’s fourth child and Union’s first.
“We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that, our miracle baby, arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl,” Wade posted on his Instagram and Twitter accounts Thursday afternoon.
Wade’s status for Friday’s home game against the Pacers was unknown. The 36-year-old is averaging 14.3 points on 45 percent shooting, four rebounds and 2.9 assists in nine games this season.
Russell Westbrook sits out
Thunder game with sprain
Russell Westbrook missed the Oklahoma City Thunder's game Thursday night against the Houston Rockets because of a sprained left ankle.
Westbrook was hurt Monday night against New Orleans. After coming down hard on the side of his foot, he pounded the ground in frustration before limping off the court.
Westbrook missed the Thunder's victory Wednesday night over the Cavaliers. He was spotted walking into Chesapeake Energy Arena on Thursday without a limp.
Westbrook had a procedure on his right knee that cost him the preseason and the first two games of the regular season. The Thunder are 5-2 with him in the lineup and 1-2 without him. The former league MVP is averaging 24.1 points, 8.9 assists and 8.3 rebounds.
