Doug Coreno has resigned as Medina High School girls soccer coach.

Coreno steps aside with 18 years of head coaching experience, including the past 11 at Medina. He posted a record of 165-25-30 with Medina and 240-68-37 overall.

Coreno led the Bees to a Division I state championship in 2009, when his squad posted a 21-1-2 record. Medina defeated Grafton Midview, Copley, Cloverleaf, Strongsville, Westlake, Sylvania Northview and Walsh Jesuit in the 2009 tournament before topping Dublin Coffman 4-0 in the state final.

Coreno, a 42-year-old seventh grade language arts teacher in the Medina district, also led the Bees to a Division I state semifinal appearance in 2015 and three other district titles.

Medina went 17-1-2 and won the Akron Division I district title in 2018 under Coreno. The Bees' tournament run featured victories over Wooster, Copley and Wadsworth, and a loss to Twinsburg in a regional semifinal.

Medina also shared the 2018 Greater Cleveland Conference crown with Division I state runner-up Strongsville. The Bees won six conference titles under Coreno since 2008.
