WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Northern Illinois 70, Akron 59

The Zips were hot from 3-point range but struggled to connect from anywhere else as they dropped their second consecutive Mid-American Conference game.

UA (11-5, 2-3 MAC) went 11-for-23 from beyond the arc, good enough for 47.8 percent. Both Megan Sefcik and Haliegh Reinoehl led the way with three 3-pointers apiece.

However, the Zips made only 10-of-33 from the interior and could not stop the guard tandem of Gabby Nikitinaite and Mikayla Voigt of NIU (11-6, 3-2 MAC).

The Huskies' backcourt duo combined to score 43 points.

Sefcik put up 20 points for UA and Reinoehl was the only other Zip in double figures with 10. Reinoehl also grabbed nine rebounds, just missing a double-double.
