Firestone 66, North 30
Three players combined to score 51 points as the host Falcons earned their second City Series win of the year.
Juniors Si'Ayera Boone and Jayda Wallace led the way for Firestone (5-10, 2-6) with 26 points and 15 points, respectively. Senior guard Saleia Porter added 10 points, and Boone also collected a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Falcons dominated from the tip, jumping out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and extending out to a 32-4 advantage at halftime.
Akilah Primm was the lone scorer in double figures for North (3-12, 1-7) with 11 points.
Down four starters and with only seven players available, the Griffins employed a first-half zone defense to conserve energy and turned it on in the second half to outlast the host Golden Rams and stay unbeaten in the City Series.
Kenmore-Garfield (7-10, 5-3) took advantage of Buchtel's zone and ran out to a 22-15 halftime lead and looked primed for an upset.
But coming out of the break, the Griffins (14-4, 8-0) went back to man-to-man and gradually chipped away at the deficit.
Freshman guard Leah Cheatham scored 14 of her game-high 17 points in the second half and backcourt mate Amiyah Stallings notched eight of her 10 points in the final half.
Buchtel outscored Kenmore-Garfield 36-24 after halftime.
Seniors Ianna Lopp and Alexis Radcliff each scored a team-high 15 points to pace the Golden Rams.
