Kent State tri meet
Kent State finished second in the West Virginia Tri on Sunday, scoring a season-high score in all four events. The Golden Flashes recorded a season-best point total of 194.450 to edge George Washington (194.125) for second behind host West Virginia, which won the event with 194.925 points.
Kent set season highs on vault (48.400,) bars (48.850), beam (48.525) and on the floor exercise (48.675).
Freshman Riley Danielson tied for first place on beam with a career-high score of 9.800, and senior Dara Williams and junior Jade Brown tied for first place on bars with scores of 9.800. Williams claimed her second event title in as many meets this season and also tied for second place on vault.
Army beats Akron
The University of Akron was edged by Army 4,668-4,649 at the Palmyra Sportsman's Association in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, in its final regular-season match. Patrick Schnupp led the Zips on the smallbore range, firing a new personal best of 582. In air rifle, Cierra Terrizzi paced Akron with a score of 592, tying for first overall in the match.
Akron will next compete in the NCAA qualifier match at Ohio State on Feb. 16.
