Norton 47, Ravenna 39

In a crucial battle for Portage Trail Conference-Metro Division supremacy, it was freshman Bailey Shutsa who stepped up to help the Panthers defend home court and remain undefeated in league play Thursday.

Shutsa scored a team-high 14 points and swiped a team-high six steals for Norton (14-3, 11-0 PTC). She also added five assists.

Senior Kelsey Hosey stayed consistent, netting 13 points and collecting 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Bryana Housley stuffed the stat sheet once again, scoring eight points and adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Another freshman shined as Emily Ervin paced the Ravenna attack, scoring a game-high 15 points for the Ravens (13-4, 8-3 PTC).

A slow start for both teams ended the first quarter with Ravenna earning an 8-4 advantage before the Panthers turned up the pressure and dominated the second quarter 19-7 to gain control and some breathing room with a 23-15 edge at halftime.

The win gives Norton a two-game lead in the PTC with just three games left to play.
