Michigan 17, Kent State 2

The Wolverines were the aggressors all day and defeated the overmatched visiting Golden Flashes on Friday.

Michigan (8-0), ranked No. 12 in the country, outshot Kent State 43-9 and forced 25 turnovers in the lopsided win.

Lluna Katz scored both goals for the Flashes (0-6) on assists from Graceyn Dean and Madison Rapier.

NCAA championships

University of Akron freshman Andre Gross placed second in individual smallbore competition on day one of the national championships in Morgantown, W.Va.

Gross earned a final score of 454.8, to finish just a behind champion Elizabeth Marsh of TCU, who scored a 456.9.

NCAA championships

Senior Matthew Ludwig cleared 18-7½ to take fourth place in the men's pole vault to highlight Akron's performance on day one of the national championships in Birmingham, Ala.

First place went to LSU's Mondo Duplantis, who cleared 18-11½.

UA senior Jordan Latimer was seventh in the men's long jump at 25-8.
