Indians starter Shane Bieber delivered four strong innings but reliever Tyler Clippard left the game with an injury in a 7-1 win over the Colorado Rockies in Cactus League play Saturday.

Bieber allowed just one hit and struck out four, lowering his spring ERA to 1.00. Clippard, brought into camp as a nonroster invitee and a contender for the Indians’ Opening Day bullpen, was removed from the game in the sixth inning because of right pectoral tightness, according to the team. He’ll be re-evaluated Sunday in Goodyear, Arizona.

The Indians also announced that top prospect Triston McKenzie is being shut down from throwing because of an upper back strain. He’s being evaluated to determine the length of his rehab and return to game activity.

Matt Joyce and Trayce Thompson, both in camp as nonroster invitees vying for a spot in the outfield, had quality outings Saturday. Joyce went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a needed positive day in what has been a slow going this spring. Thompson later added a two-run triple, bringing his spring OPS to .888.
