Zips' Nicholson leads tournament

University of Akron senior Danielle Nicholson holds a 2-stroke lead in Orlando at the Bucknell Spring Break Intercollegiate. The Zips are tied for third in the six-team field on the Reunion Resort's Watson Course in Reunion, Fla.

Nicholson carded an even-par 72. Appalachian State leads the field with a 15-over-par 303 total. UA is tied with Quinnipiac at 31 over (319 total).

Ivana Shah is tied for 18th for the Zips, and Abbie Pearce (Green) is a stroke behind and tied for 20th.

Kent State in the lead

Kent State leads at the Entrada Classic women's golf tournament in St. George, Utah, behind Thitapa Pakdeesettak and Karoline Stormo, who are first and second after the first two rounds. The Golden Flashes tallied a 1 over par for two rounds and lead Texas Tech by 7 strokes in the 14-team field.

Pakdeesettak shot an even-par 72 on the Snow Canyon Country Club course in the first round, followed by a 3-under 69 in the second. Stormo is even after two rounds with a 144 total. Chloe Salort is tied for seventh for KSU at 2 over overall.

KSU struggles in Myrtle Beach

After an opening round of 286 in the General Hackler Championship at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Kent State men's golf team had troubles. The Golden Flashes fell from sixth place to 11th in the team standings, shooting a second-round 300.

Johnny Travale and Will Kurtz (Hudson) each shot 3-under par 69s in the first round. Each struggled in round No. 2 as KSU went from 2 under par to a second-round total of 10 over. North Florida is atop the leaderboard at 22 under par.

Akron 13th in South Carolina

At the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, South Carolina, the University of Akron men's golf team finished its first two rounds in a 13th-place tie with Presbyterian College at 26 over par. South Carolina leads the tournament with a 23 under total of 537 on the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club.

UA's No. 1 player Elliott Grayson leads the team with back-to-back rounds of 1 over par and is tied for 21st overall.
