Kent State sweeps doubleheader

Kent State swept a home doubleheader from Northwestern on Friday at Schoonover Stadium, winning the first game 12-5 and the second game 12-1.

The Golden Flashes pounded out 14 hits in the first game, scoring six runs in the second inning. Pavin Parks (Manchester) hit a grand slam to key the big inning. Pete Schuler also hit a home run, a solo shot in the fourth inning, and went 4-for-5 with three runs scored.

Connor Wollersheim benefited from the offensive outburst to earn his first win of the season with six solid innings. Zach Schultz picked up a three-inning save, his first of the season.

The Flashes (7-10) stayed hot in the second game with 15 hits, including another home run by Schuler and a home run, triple, and three RBI by Justin Kirby.

John Matthews earned the victory with six scoreless innings.

Eastern Michigan vaults over Kent State

Kent State wrapped up its regular season with a 196.025-193.900 loss at Eastern Michigan.

Senior Dara Williams led the Flashes with a first-place finish on vault and a third-place finish on bars. Williams earned her ninth individual event win of the season and her 12th top-three finish. The team captain has finished in the top five on vault in every event this season and in the top 10 in every event on bars.
