GOODYEAR, Ariz.—The Indians are close to working out a resolution that would keep Tyler Clippard within the organization as he rehabs from a mild pectoral strain.

Clippard is expected to miss a few more weeks. He was brought into camp as an intriguing non-roster invitee. Once he sustained the injury, his future was unclear with a number of options, but the Indians have said they’d like to keep him in the fold past Opening Day.

Once healthy, Clippard could factor into the Indians’ bullpen picture. For now, he and the team will continue to wait until he can return to the mound.
