UA women receive bid
to WBI tournament
The University of Akron women's basketball team will participate in the Women's Basketball Invitational and will play Tennessee Tech at 6 p.m. Thursday in Cookeville, Tenn.
The Zips received the invite after finishing with a 16-14 record and a first-round loss to Eastern Michigan in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
• Zips senior Megan Sefcik was named second-team All-MAC after averaging 17.1 points and finishing her career as the 15th UA player to eclipse 1,000 points. She is also third in program history in 3-point field goals.
KSU men and women
in postseason tourneys
The Kent State men received a berth in the College Invitational Tournament and the women received a bid in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
The KSU men (22-10) will play at Louisiana-Monroe (18-15) at 8 p.m. Thursday and the women (19-12) will travel to Green Bay (22-9) for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Thursday.
UA fifth at Kingsmill
The University of Akron shot a 960 to take fifth place at the three-day Kingsmill Women's Intercollegiate held at the Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg, Va.
Senior Danielle Nicholson and freshman Ivana Shah tied for 12th place individually, both carding a 54-hole score of 233 to lead UA.
Seton Hall won the tournament with a total of 918.
